The **Dump Buddy**, designed for RVs, is an essential tool that securely connects wastewater hoses to prevent accidental spills. Whether used for a quick dump after a trip or a longer-term connection during extended stays, Dump Buddy offers a reliable and user-friendly solution, earning widespread popularity among RV enthusiasts.
The product consists of nine individual parts and requires a variety of manufacturing processes, including injection molding, overmolding, adhesive application, printing, riveting, assembly, and packaging. The original design provided by the client was overly complex, with too many components, prompting them to ask FCE for an optimized solution.
Development was carried out in stages. Initially, the client tasked FCE with a single injection-molded part. Over time, FCE took on full responsibility for the entire product, including development, assembly, and final packaging, reflecting the client’s increasing confidence in FCE’s expertise and capabilities.
One key element of the product was its gear mechanism. FCE incorporated design flexibility into the mold to allow for adjustments. After reviewing the gear's performance and rotational force in collaboration with the client, FCE fine-tuned the mold to match the required force specifications. The second prototype, with minor modifications, met all functionality requirements.
For the riveting process, FCE customized a riveting machine and tested various rivet lengths to ensure the ideal combination of connection strength and rotational force, guaranteeing a secure and durable product.
In addition to the manufacturing processes, FCE designed a specialized sealing and packaging machine. Each unit was carefully packed in its final packaging, sealed in a protective PE bag to ensure both durability and waterproofing.
Throughout more than a year of production, FCE has manufactured over 15,000 units of Dump Buddy, all without any after-sales issues. FCE’s innovative engineering, attention to detail, and commitment to quality have provided the client with a competitive advantage in the market, reinforcing FCE’s reputation as a trusted partner.
