A U.S.-based client approached FCE to develop an eco-friendly hotel soap dish, requiring the use of ocean-recycled materials for injection molding. The client provided an initial concept, and FCE managed the entire process, including product design, mold development, and mass production.
The product’s lid features a dual-purpose design: it serves as a cover and can be flipped over to function as a draining tray. With the lid’s thickness reaching 14mm, controlling shrinkage presented a significant technical challenge. since the lid is quite thicker with 14mm, and no ribs in the middle ,so even we use the high tonnge machine, it just can fully injected the parts well but after that since the part is quite thicker, there will after shrinkage , so there is the deformation also. it just like a seesaw. so, to ensure the lid can be flat, FCE used the experience, to apply the restrike process beside the injection molding, once it comes out, there will be addtional restrike to hold the lid to give the oppisite direction compression to be flat , it solved the lid stuck issue when slide the lid coz previous deformation issue. FCE’s team overcame this by repeatedly refining the process parameters and mold structure, ensuring both the product’s appearance and functional quality met the client’s expectations.
In the end, the product was successfully put into production, successfully achieved the customer’s design goals, and provided an innovative product with both environmental protection and functionality for the hotel supplies market.
